Physical AI is shipping. Execution authority isn’t.
Humanoids, surgical robots, cobots and exoskeletons are moving from demos to deployment. But planning, perception and policy still decide upstream; local controllers are platform-specific, not a portable execution-authority layer. Faster inference cuts latency; it does not make physical execution bounded when the model is uncertain.

Centralized control won’t scale.
Aerospace, telecom and power moved to layered, local, redundant safety decades ago. Robotics still bets everything on one upstream brain.
Simulation is necessary, not sufficient.
It proposes the nominal body. Real execution proves what a specific, drifting, repaired body can actually do.

A robot body should not be a passive executor: Robots are physical systems with forces, limits, drift, energy, contact and failure modes, not software running through motors.
Capability model before commands: The body needs a current model of what it can execute.
Evidence before deployment: Capabilities must come from real execution, not only nominal models.
Local authority before motion: The body must limit execution where command becomes force.

When body authority becomes necessary
As robots learn, update, age and operate near people, software authority alone is not enough. Kyostra makes body authority explicit exactly when it matters:
Humanoid fleet updates: new AI behavior ships across robots with different wear and repair history. Kyostra enables allow / restrict / revalidate / rollback decisions per body.
Repaired or second-hand robots:a new actuator, controller or joint changes the body. Kyostra updates the body-capability model before full deployment.
Powered exoskeletons: a motor command reaches a joint attached to a human. Kyostra enforces local force and motion limits, with evidence for safety review and insurability.
